After 4 hours 20 minutes on board and yummy in-flight mutton beryani, we landed in Malé, the capital of Maldives. It was about 10 pm local time. We decided to spend the night at a cheap hotel near the airport and only head to the resort the next day.
MH 177 safely landed.
Welcome to Maldives!
The hotel provided airport transfer, so we didn’t have to worry about getting a taxi in the middle of the night. On the way to the hotel, we saw pretty little shops selling shawls nearby. After checking in, we asked the guy at the reception about the shops. He told us they would be open till 11pm. Glanced at the time, it was 10:45 pm, we still had 15 minutes before they closed. I wondered if the hotel could provide a transport for us to go there. “It’s just behind here,” he said. He then told a female staff to walk with us. Yeay!
Eila trying a nice black shawl with gold shimmers.
We only had the time to go to one shop, yet it was an effective spree - we both got a shawl each. The price was reasonable. Eila bought the shawl that she tried on for MVR 60 (RM 12). Mine was MVR 130 (RM 26). Hardly an hour in Maldives, we already started shopping ;-)
Walked back to the hotel and retired for the night. Our transport to the resort would pick us up at 7:45 am the next day. By the way, check out the room...
Slept under chandelier like a royalty :-D
Couldn’t wait to go the resort and begin the real holiday!
