iftar at marché

Had iftar with former schoolmates at Marché (The Curve). At first I declined the invitation as I was supposed to iftar with a friend who was 9 months pregnant yet still had a major craving – she craved for Ramadan buffet at Sunway Resort Hotel *gawk*. Unfortunately (or fortunately) in the morning, she texted...

“baru jumpa doc tadi. doc kata dah bole beranak sbb serviks dah buka 4cm. haha. hopefully sempat sampai malam ni nak bukak pose”

...dah dilated 4cm yet still nak buka puasa kat hotel, boleh?

Told her forget about it, go give birth already! By 6pm, she was in labour room. And few hours later she delivered a baby boy. Imagine if we were at Sunway Resort Hotel enjoying iftar and she suddenly wanted to push-push-push.. erkkk!

*Thinking* Hope the baby tak keluar air liur sebaldi pasal tak dapat makan Ramadan buffet :-p

Anyway, back to Marché. For most of us, it was our first time there. We were given a card each that we had no idea what to do with, so we called the waiter to explain it to us. It turned out that the card was for us to get stamps when we take our orders. Since it was a buffet, we didn’t need to use the card for food. But drinks and ice cream weren’t included in the buffet (weird) so we needed to get stamps for those.

Reminded me of hostel days – take your food and stamp your card.

Some of the food counters by the way.

Friends and food at Marché.

Good place to bring kids – there’s a playground in there.

It was Naf’s birthday, so we took the chance to celebrate.

The cost for one person.

Buffet: RM 65.00 – Only for food. Need to pay extra for drinks and ice cream.

Drink: RM 4.95 – That was the promo price for a glass of watermelon juice. For other drinks they charge full price around RM 10 to RM 15 per glass/cup. No, they don’t provide plain water. Have to buy their mineral water, no idea how much.

With 10% service charge and government tax, we had to pay RM 81.15 per person.

Worth it? Well, the food was average, I would say. The best dish I sampled was pepperoni pizza fresh from the oven.. with overflowing mozarella cheese.. yumster! The ambiance was very nice. And there were not that many people around. So I guess we paid more for the comfort, not so much for the food.

Anyway, it was great to meet up with old friends. Thank you Siti for organizing it!

Gosh, i dah lama giler tak pegi Marche. The last i went there was abt 3 yrs back with my ex EY gang. Time tu dia punya buffet takde la cekik darah sangat. Concur with u the pizza is yummy. Do they still hv the roasted chicken? That dish was yummy too

zu,
jangan wat pasal zu.. u tu dah ada history beranak awal. yeah marche mmg sgt sesuai bawa arsyad. mesti dia happy dpt main kat playground. mummy pun happy dpt mkn dgn aman kan ;-)

maya,
pizza was superb. savoury crepe was ok too. roasted chicken ada ke takde.. tak ingat.. but there were lots of grilled stuffs i.e. prawns, lamb
eh u were ex-EY ke? how come i always thot u r ex-KPMG..? hmm..

k jaja,
bz makan n borak.. so tak amik gambo sgt. itulah, first time gi buffet kena bayo air. maybe coz air diorg mmg mahal coz their specialty is fresh juices. yg bestnya my fren minta plain water, waiter tu ckp "we don't save plain water" pelik kan?

Dieya,
Yikes! RM81.15/person? Tu kalo jenis minum air sikit, segelas je. Saya kalo berbuka, mau 3,4 gelas air. Muaha!

akak memang tak pernah terfikir nak berbuka kat luar pun tau..jenis yg makan sikit..kalau buffet bayar sampai rm40++ ke..minum air segelas dua..makan nasi sepinggan..dah kenyang..huhu alangkah ruginya..

But sesekali utk tukar angin & tukar selera..may be a good choice.. :)

Dieya makan banyak ke tu? hihi

Mula² tgk, waaa bestnya kengkawan gi bukak puasa reramai.. hehehe.. sib baik u tak gi buka puasa dgn ur friend yg pregnant tuh, nnt tak pasal² terdeliver lak baby.. oh, cannot imagine!

skali bila i scroll tgk bill, mata i terbeliak jugak la.. agak pricey.. but i think, sekali sekala (more like sekali je kot in Ramadhan) nak buka kat Marche is okay I guess..

I've been there only once with ikhwan in 2008. I had Spaetzle (a German dish) that ikhwan had introduced to me.. best! yeah i agree that the ambience is awesome :)

glad u guys had a good time :)

You should actually brought your friend to jn us since there'll be two doctors there.

Anyway, had a great time. Should hv brought a big tupperware for tapau. I always think that eating western food is a bit on the high end side of the price scale. I think the price included a portion of the cost of the 'traditional Swiss' dresses that the waitresses were wearing.
If they offered local msian food at the same price I would think it's expensive.

dj,
tuh laa pasal. mmg tepat sangkaan her gynae, mlm tu juga dia beranak!
yeah, pretty pricey considering the (lack of) variety. btol2 pegi sekali je masa ramadan is enuff, no sekala, definitely.
anyway we did have a great time! just like old times!

dyanna,
hahaha dr. kathy awal2 dah warning she's not a gynae. dr. mel tu she herself tgh buyung, larat kah nak deliver anak org? ;-D
hahaha come to think about it, perhaps we did pay for their ala maria (sound of music) dress. where was capt. von trapp by the way?

mm,
i guess it was excpected for the place a bit pricey, co the specialise in swiss food. yup, ambiance mmg superb!
really?! owh kalau lah betul, u should scream my name kuat2 okay! and i'll scream your name back!
salam ramadan mubarak to u too!
