Last Saturday me + 3 others took off to Penang. Main mission: Attend Pjot’s wedding. Side missions: Eat glorious food (nasi kandar, pasembor, cendol etc.), walk along Batu Feringghi’s night market, buy jeruk at Chowrasta.. yadda.. yadda.. yadda..
Me, Fad, Kak Azie and Farah. We rented a car at the airport and drove directly to Pjot’s house at Seberang Perai. My first time driving on Penang Bridge!
We arrived at the same time as the groom’s entourage, so we got to see the couple berarak. By the way, we left KL without breakfast to catch the morning flight, so we were incredibly hungry. Meeting the couple could wait, hungry tummies couldn’t. So we headed straight to the buffet spread.
Yummy nasi beryani with lots of side dishes.
There were also stalls offering char koay tiow, roti canai, cendol and ABC.
Long queue at the char koay tiow stall. Never seen this kind of setup at weddings before. Uniquely Penang!
Aksi penggoreng char koay tiow.
Congrats Pjot and Izuan! May you live happily ever after!
We then left Pjot’s house and headed back to the island. Since we left the island by bridge, we decided to return by ferry. I had always wanted to ride Penang’s ferry ever since I saw its photo in my Standard 6 textbook ages ago. Baru sekarang tercapai :-D
Welcome to Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal!
Pakcik ni sungguh terkejut tiba2 saya ambil gambar dia.
Once inside, we parked the car, walked around and enjoyed the lovely sea breeze.
Ish.. tangan mami jarum mana laa enterprem nih..
We headed straight to our hotels at Batu Feringghi. Farah and I stayed at Hard Rock Hotel. We got a twin sharing room for about RM 420, which I thought was a reasonable price for a hotel of that standard. Fad and Kak Azie stayed at Bayview Beach Resort just next door.
Tap the key card and press the lift button.
Our gorgeous room. Farah insisted that I took a photo of the bathroom :-p
We freshened up, rested for a bit and got ready to explore Penang at night. Where to? Stay tuned!
To be continued...
