*WARNING* Gazillion piccas ahead. Not suitable for dieters and batik lovers. You have been cautioned!
I was in Kota Bharu over the weekend. Flew in at 7:50am on Saturday, flew out with at 7:50pm on Sunday. Had three major missions:
Mission #1: Go to Pasar Siti Khadijah to replenish my scarves stock.
Mission #2: Attend Sal’s wedding.
Mission #3: Attend Momay’s wedding.
So I took the ERL from KL Sentral during the wee hours of Saturday morning while most KLians were sleeping.
Took-off. Landed. Erin picked me up from the airport. Had nasi dagang for breakfast. Yummy!
Then we headed to Pasar Siti Khadijah where we went crazy over batik...
...and lots of scarves.
Mission #1 - Accomplished!
Anda mahu selamat?
Next we went to Restoren Nasi Ulam Cikgu.
Erin taught me the right way to eat budu. Gotta mix it with tempoyak and shredded unripe mango and squeeze some lime juice into it.
Buasir? Di sini ada penawarnya.
We went to Erin’s house to change then to Sal’s wedding. She looked exactly like how I remembered her in high school!
The buffet spread included ayam percik. Something different.
We arrived slightly after 3pm, which I thought was really late. But guess what, groom’s entourage arrived even later than us! So we got the chance to see Sal and Kimi playing baa cak :-D
Mission #2 - Accomplished!
From Sal’s house I was supposed to meet other friends from KL at the homestay where we would be spending the night. But they were still shopping at Pengkalan Kubor, which was an hour drive away. So I asked Erin to take me to the beach to kill time.
Row, row, row your boat.
Traded bikini for baju kurung.
Then we went to buy some kuih near a traffic light with big wau replica.
Lompat tikam, murtabak pisang, onde-onde and several other kuih that neither of us knew their names.
By the time those who went to Pengkalan Kubor returned to Kota Bharu, another group who came from KL with the evening flight arrived and rented a car. Erin and I met them at the airport so we could guide them to the homestay. Then Erin had to return to Besut where she worked, as the next day was a working day in Kelantan and Terengganu.
Finally everybody arrived at the homestay just in time for dinner.
After going round and round the town looking for a place to eat, we ended up at KB Kopitiam.

Saturday’s verdict: Two missions accomplished.
Sunday’s plan: One more mission awaiting.
To be continued...
