Miss A, a Chinese girl.
Miss B, an Indian girl.
Mr. C, a Malay guy.
Mr. D, a Malay guy married to a Chinese girl.
Me, a part-Malay part-Chinese girl.
A pretty decent restaurant at Ara Damansara.
As we were waiting for our food to arrive...
Miss B: My son is so naughty. Now he refuses to call his big sister “akka”.
Miss A: What’s “akka”?
Miss B: It’s Tamil word for big sister.
Mr. C: Then what do you call younger sister?
Miss B: That’s “tanggachi”.
Mr. D: Hey I thought “tanggachi” is what you call a girl when you want to woo her?
Me: I thought so too. Isn’t it something like “babe”?
Miss B: Hahaha! No, “tanggachi” literally means younger sister.
Me: Then what’s “minachi”?
Miss B: That’s someone’s name.
Miss A: Hey what’s “macha”? I always hear my husband calling his friends “macha”.
Miss B: “Macha” means brother in-law.
Miss A: Really?! But he calls everyone “macha”. Macha.. macha.. macha..
Miss B: Then they all become your brother!
All of us: Hahahahaha!
...and a scene like this can only be seen in beautiful Malaysia!
